DLA to Collaborate with Rockefeller Center on Law Day Programming

Dartmouth students and alumni are invited to attend Law Day programming in Hanover May 4-5.  U.S. District Court Judge Jeffrey Meyer will give the keynote Volk Lecture, addressing "The Fourth Amendment in Jeopardy? Privacy vs. Security in the Electronic Age."

Judge Meyer will be joined by Ernie Babcock ‘70, former Deputy General Counsel at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Deirdre Daly ’81, U.S. Attorney in Connecticut, and Tim Edgar ‘94, former Director of Privacy and Civil Liberties for the White House National Security Staff and Deputy for Civil Liberties for the Director of National Intelligence, to discuss “Electronic Search and Seizure: Balancing the Government’s Need for Information and Citizens’ Right to Privacy in an Age of Terrorism.” Former DLA President Howard Morse '81 will moderate the panel discussion.

 
DLA Elects New Officers at Annual Meeting
The DLA elected Barbara Murphy '79 to serve as President for 2017-2019 at its annual meeting in Banff.  Other officers elected included: Joanna Cline '95 (Secretary), Jennie Arlin '88 (Vice President for Website/Social Media), Hilary Miller '73 (Treasurer), Tom Skilton '89 (VP Membership), Brian Daucher '91 (VP Directory), and Jeff Carton '88 (VP Events and Communications. Formerly President Howard Morse '81 will be organizing the 2018 ski meeting.
 
DLA Held Annual Meeting in Banff February 23-25

More than 55 were present at the Dartmouth Lawyers Association annual meeting held Feb. 23-25, at the Rimrock Resort, in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Great activities for skiers and non-skiers alike. Thanks to Rick Sharpless '79 for organizing the meeting, and to speakers Thea Fabio, Amy Folbe '84, Jim Hunnicutt '98, Hillary Miller '73, Stacy Philips '80, and Alyssa Rower '01.

Couldn't join us this year?  Plan to make it February 22-25, 2018 at our meeting in Squaw Valley, near Lake Tahoe.

 
Help Dartmouth Students Looking for an Immigration Lawyer!

The DLA is maintaining a list of Dartmouth alumni that are volunteering time to provide pro bono legal services to immigrants, as a resource for Dartmouth students who may be affected by the recent Presidential Executive Order and may be affected by further actions that may impact immigrants. If you are working with an organization or if you or your firm would like to be included on a list of pro bono legal resources for Dartmouth students, please let us know by emailing webster@dla.org.
